
With the July 4th holiday around the corner, gas prices are on the rise.
After two straight weeks of price drops, the cost at the pump is back on the rise. In Gainesville, the cost jumped from $3.33 last week to $3.41 on Thursday. In Florida, the average price per gallon went from $3.27 to 3.36, while the cost nationally went down one cent from $3.46 to $3.45.
Thursday’s national average of $3.46 is 15 cents less than last month’s $3.61. Last year, the price was at $3.59.
Florida is the 25th least expensive state in price per gallon at $3.36. Last month, gas was $3.44 per gallon and last year it was $3.39 statewide.
In the Gainesville area, last month’s price was $3.50 per gallon, and last year it was $3.40.
According to gasbuddy.com, here are the lowest prices to fill up in Alachua County:

- $3.11 at Sam’s Club, 4001 SW 30th Pl, Gainesville

- $3.19 at Texaco, 4909 NW 34th Blvd., Gainesville
- $3.19 at Pilot, 17276 US 301, Waldo
- $3.19 at Sunoco, 610 NE 1st Ave., High Springs
- $3.21 at Circle K, 19531 NW US Hwy 441, High Springs
