6 Gainesville men indicted on federal dogfighting charges

Six Gainesville men have been indicted in federal court on charges related to an alleged dogfighting operation.

According to a U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida release sent Monday, Taurean Jaquan Servance, 24; Jarrett Abram Servance, 45; Jarrett Abram Servance Jr., 25; Terry Lajace Lee, 44; Christopher Eugene Thompson, 56; and Clinton Thomas, 43, were indicted on conspiracy to violate the Animal Welfare Act.

In addition to the conspiracy charge, the defendants face the following counts of possession of fighting dogs:

  • Thompson: 13 counts.
  • Thomas: 12 counts.
  • Taurean Servance and Jarrett Servance Jr.: 11 counts each.
  • Jarrett Servance: Six counts.

Lee was indicted on the conspiracy charge.

Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison.

A jury trial for all six defendants is scheduled for Oct. 21, 2026, before Chief U.S. District Judge Allen C. Winsor in Gainesville.

The case was jointly investigated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Inspector General, the Gainesville Police Department, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Alachua County Animal Resources. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Hapner is prosecuting the case.
