The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) released a video on Thursday of deputies responding to a Dec. 29 burglary at Right Price Auto Sales in Waldo that led to a chase and the arrest of two suspects.
According to the ACSO report, deputies responded on Friday at 10:27 p.m. to an alleged burglary at Right Price Auto Sales on NE Highway 301 in Waldo.
Two suspects – Jalon Williams, 21, and Daven Garner, 26 – broke into the business, took a pair of keys and fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.
An ACSO deputy K-9 unit located the stolen vehicle and attempted to make contact with the suspects and, in an attempt to flee, Williams crashed the stolen vehicle into the deputy’s patrol vehicle. Williams then crashed into a tree and both suspects ran into swampy woods, where they were apprehended after the K-9 tracked them down.
After Williams and Garner were arrested, deputies found a second stolen vehicle at the crime scene.
Williams was charged with two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, two larcenies and one count of aggravated battery, use of a deadly weapon on law enforcement, fleeing and eluding burglary of an unoccupied structure and resisting an officer. He is being held on bond at $315,000.
Garner is charged with two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, one count of resisting an officer and larceny and his bond is set at $60,000.
Both men are being held at the Alachua County Jail.
