Two adults were arrested following an Alachua Police Department (APD) investigation into inappropriate conduct with juvenile victims.
According to an APD release sent Monday, law enforcement arrested Chiarel Ruby Davis, 38, of Chiefland, and Nicholas Jabarri Scott, 35, of Gainesville, on multiple charges.
Davis was charged with sexual assault by a person 24 years or older on a 16- or 17-year-old victim, traveling to meet a minor, interfering with custody of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Davis reportedly engaged in sexual activity with a juvenile victim, provided marijuana to the minor and sent explicit images and messages to the victim. She also facilitated unsupervised meetings with the minor without parental consent.
Scott was charged with distribution of obscene material to a minor and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony after reportedly sending explicit images to one of the victims and communicating with a juvenile in a manner that violated Florida law.
The APD investigation started after a report from a concerned parent. Both Davis and Scott were known to the victims and their families and had allegedly interacted with them under the pretense of friendship.
“This case is a reminder of the need for vigilance in protecting our youth,” said Alachua Police Chief Jesse Sandusky in the release. “We commend the victims for their bravery in coming forward and thank our detectives for their diligence and professionalism.”
