Person of interest identified in fatal Alachua County hit-and-run

A person of interest was identified following a fatal hit-and-run that killed a Floral City man walking along US Highway 441 early Sunday morning in Alachua County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 2015-20 dark grey Ford Mustang driving south hit and killed the 26-year-old Floral City man walking along US 441 just south of SW 104th Avenue around 3:30 a.m. The vehicle continued south toward Micanopy and Marion County.

Around 3 p.m., FHP investigators located the vehicle and identified a person of interest.
