The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Saturday night in the 1600 block of SE 12th Avenue.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release sent Tuesday, officers responded at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 12 after several callers reported hearing gunshots and that someone had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately provided aid until the victim was transported to a local hospital, but reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
