The Lake City Police Department (LCPD) is requesting the public’s help to solve a shooting death from nearly four years ago.
Considered a cold case, LCPD published a release on Friday asking for anyone with information to step forward and help bring closure to the family involved.
The incident happened on Dec.7, 2021, after law enforcement responded to 810 NE Sam Court around 6:35 p.m. Officers found two males with gunshot wounds.
According to the release, the first man was in a prone position and showed no signs of life. He was declared dead just before 7 p.m. The second victim was treated and transported by EMS.
The deceased man was later identified as Deontay Lewis Farmer, 29.
The police department set a perimeter and collected evidence and then followed up with the involved parties, but the case remains unsolved.
“We are committed to solving this case and giving answers to Mr. Farmer’s family,” stated Lake City Police Chief Gerald Butler. “We believe someone in our community has information that can help. We urge you to come forward.”
