A Cedar Park Apartments shooting in Lake City injured a woman early Friday morning.
According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers responded at 12:37 a.m. to 375 NW Bascom Norris Drive after a FLOCK gunshot detection alert indicated the report of shots fired.
Officers canvased the area and located five shell casings in the parking lot, along with bullet fragments near several apartments. Officers also identified multiple points of impact where rounds had struck the apartment building.
The officers also encountered a resident who stated she had been struck in the leg by a bullet while standing on her upstairs porch. The injured woman was treated on scene and transported by emergency responders to a local hospital.
After establishing a perimeter, officers interviewed residents and witnesses, most of whom reported hearing gunshots but did not observe the shooting.
“We take every incident of gun violence seriously and are utilizing all available resources to identify those responsible,” said Lake City Police Chief Gerald Butler in the release. “The safety of our residents remains our top priority, and we encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
No suspects have been identified at this time and the investigation remains ongoing by the LCPD Criminal Investigations Division.
