LCPD arrests 2 for October shooting

Two men were arrested on Wednesday in connection with an October shooting that injured two people.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers arrested a juvenile and Demontre Paul Ward, 19, and charged them with four counts of attempted murder.

The incident occurred over a three block span along SE Avalon Avenue on Oct. 8, 2022. LCPD officers responded to SE Dade Street to the report of gunshots and were advised prior to arriving on scene that two persons were shot and being transported by private vehicle to the hospital.

After arriving at the hospital, officers talked to the two male victims – one with a wound to the shoulder and the other with a wound on his wrist.

LCPD investigators processed the crime scene with assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Crime Scene Technicians personnel.

According to the release, investigators followed up on leads that led to the arrest of Ward and the juvenile.
