The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) bomb squad found no explosives after a Hampton Inn employee discovered a concerning note and a suspicious package on Wednesday.

According to Gainesville Police Department (GPD) spokesperson Brandon Hatzel, an employee cleaning a room at the Hampton Inn (101 1st Ave.) in downtown Gainesville found a concerning note the employee relayed to management. Hampton Inn management then called GPD.

“We called the ASCO’s bomb squad and, in the last three minutes, they gave the all clear and no explosives were found,” said Hatzel.
