
A University of Florida pre-med student murdered his mother on Saturday when he traveled from Gainesville to Frostproof to stay with her and visit family.
The incident occurred when Emmanuel Espinoza, 21, drove to his mother’s house in Polk County and stabbed her to death, according to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) social media release. The UF student killed 46-year-old Elvia Espinoza, a second grade teacher at Ben Hill Griffin Elementary School in Frostproof.
Emmanuel Espinoza called 911 and confessed to the murder and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Polk County Jail and charged with first degree murder.
