Forbes magazine recently named UF the No. 4 public university in the nation and one of six Florida schools ranked in the top 100.

UF moved up three spots from the 2023 rankings, according to a State University System of Florida press release.

“The University of Florida accomplishes great things, and we are not slowing down,” said Mori Hosseini, chair of the UF board of trustees, in a UF press release. “This ranking is another recognition of our world-changing mission as an elite and practical university. This board of trustees moves forward when we dare to be bold.”

Forbes used 14 metrics that included whether institutions produce highly paid graduates, reduce the amount of debt incurred by students, graduate a high percentage of students within six years and retain students while they complete their bachelor’s degrees, to rank the top 500 universities.

“The University of Florida has had an unparalleled trajectory,” said Interim President Kent Fuchs in a UF press release. “We are going to keep our foot on the gas to enhance our university’s excellence and reputation.”

UF has earned high accolades in recent years after being ranked No. 6 by U.S. News and World Report’s top national public universities in September 2023 after back-to-back No. 5 rankings in 2022 and 2021.

Other Florida public universities ranked in the Forbes top 100 include Florida State at No. 21, the University of South Florida at No. 41, the University of Central Florida at No. 43, Florida International University at No. 60 and Florida Atlantic University at No. 84.
