Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS) will host a magnet showcase, including for the first time all of the district’s academic and career tech magnet programs, from elementary through high school.

The Showcase is set to run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Alachua County Sports and Event Center at 4870 Celebration Pointe Ave. in Gainesville.

All Alachua County families with school-age children are invited to attend and hear from representatives of the programs, including students enrolled in some of them.

“This will be a great opportunity for families to learn more about what these programs have to offer in one location,” said Shannon Ritter, director of the district’s career tech programs, in a press release. “I think students and families will be amazed at the many diverse opportunities available in this district for students at all grade levels and with a wide range of interests.”

Magnet programs are open to any Alachua County student, regardless of where they are zoned to, including those not currently enrolled in the district. If a student is accepted to a magnet at a school more than two miles from home, the district will provide transportation.

Families may apply for up to three programs with one application.

ACPS’s full list of magnet programs is available online, and the page will be updated with additional information about application timelines, magnet open house schedules and more.
