Newberry Mayor Jordan Marlowe is asking businesses or organizations if they would be willing to share Wi-Fi with local students.
“With virtual school starting (March 30th) I’d like to compile a list of places students could go to access free Wi-Fi from a safe distance,” Marlowe, who is also a teacher at Newberry High School, announced via Facebook.
“I know that the Wi-Fi at (Newberry) City Hall extends to the grass and benches outside,” he added.
According to Marlowe, the Wi-Fi at the (Newberry) library extends to the parking lot outside. The Wi-Fi at MLK community center extends to the porch and the Wi-Fi at The Blend coffee shop extends to the parking lot.
“If anyone knows of another place that students can drive or walk to for online access, please, list it here,” he requested.
“I’m hoping we have enough locations to spread the kids out.”
Kids are welcome to bring a blanket and spread out on City Hall lawn, he commented.
“The mornings have been beautiful!”
