A pair of Oak Hall School students are being celebrated for their achievements at a summer camp.

Sixth graders Nathan Tran and Nico Vu recently attended Space Camp Robotics held in Huntsville, Alabama.

Tran and Vu represented Oak Hall on Team Gear, where they competed in a series of complex land, air and sea-based missions — using robots they designed — to complete challenges and earn “robotics bolts,” the program’s currency.

Not only did Team Gear shine in the competition, but it also broke a camp record by earning over two billion bolts and capturing the coveted Prime Contract Team Award – the highest team honor at the camp, according to an Oak Hall press release.

On top of the team’s victory, Tran was chosen from among all trainees to receive the prestigious H.E.R.O. Award (Human Excellence Reward Ornament), which “recognizes a student who demonstrates extraordinary imagination, innovation, determination, inspiration, and optimism,” the release said.
