2-vehicle accident injures 2 near Micanopy

A two-vehicle accident on northbound US Highway 441 near Micanopy injured two people on Tuesday morning.

According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, units from ACFR and Micanopy Fire Rescue responded to the collision at 8:50 a.m. near SW 104th Avenue in Paynes Prairie.

One driver was entrapped and fire fighters utilized the Jaws of Life hydraulic rescue tools to free the person from their vehicle.

Emergency responders transported both drivers to local hospitals for evaluation.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
