ACRF extinguishes car hauler blaze

Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) extinguished a commercial vehicle fire on US 301 near County Road 225, north of Waldo early Friday morning.  

Upon arrival at 6:54 a.m., crews reported a car hauler carrying nine vehicles was on fire with four of the vehicles on the trailer fully involved.  

Melrose Fire Department and Windsor Fire Department provided water tank support and manpower after ACRF requested assistance.

The fire was brought under control quickly and traffic southbound was diverted for about 1.5 hours.  

The fire crews were able to contain the fire to the four vehicles on the trailer.
