Alachua County to host Forward Focus Year 1 Summit on Oct. 25

The Alachua County Commission is inviting community members to participate in the Forward Focus Year 1 Summit on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Cuscowilla Nature and Retreat Center.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 210 SE 134th Ave. in Micanopy.

This summit will mark a major milestone in the Forward Focus: Eastern Alachua County initiative and is an essential and critical opportunity for local leaders, businesses and residents to help shape the region’s future. The event will feature workshops and collaborative discussions designed to generate ideas and identify community-driven solutions. Lunch will be provided.

The summit will address several focus areas critical to the long-term success and vitality of eastern Alachua County, including:

  • Post-secondary education & workforce development
  • Health & well-being
  • Early childhood

According to the release, “Alachua County staff will present Forward Focus Year 1 highlights, share progress made since the project’s launch, and outline next steps in the initiative’s development. Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with county representatives and provide feedback that will help shape a comprehensive strategic plan for the coming years.”

Childcare services will be available for children (ages 4 to 12), with space limited to 25 children.

Participants who have previously attended Forward Focus sessions are encouraged to attend the summit as well and remain involved.
