Parking enforcement to resume Monday
The City of Gainesville resumes parking enforcement Monday, June 15. All neighbors are encouraged to adhere to posted parking guidance, and to use the Passport Parking app to pay for city parking, view parking options and rates, purchase neighborhood permits or pay parking citations online. City buildings resume partial operations
The City began a phased reopening of its buildings June 8 with access to lobby areas of City Hall, the Old Library Building and the Historic Thomas Center. Strict social distancing guidelines and sanitation protocols have been implemented. Access to reopened buildings is limited to a single point of entry. All people entering city buildings will be subject to temperature checks and will be required to wear face coverings. Neighbors can visit to the lobby of City Hall to make payments (business tax, parking tickets, purchase neighborhood parking decals) but are encouraged to use the online portal for those requests that can be completed online. The Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department announces the status of these facilities:
- Basketball: Basketball courts are expected to reopen at all parks beginning Monday, June 22.
- Baseball/Fields: Groups of fewer than 50 players may request park permits for practice from the department. Teams must submit a practice plan of safety measures in place. A 1-hour time-frame between user groups for baseball fields will be enforced.
- Dog parks: Dog parks have resumed operations under limited occupancy.
- Golf: Ironwood Golf Course is open under strict social distancing guidelines.
- Nature: Green space, walking trails and boardwalks at most city parks remain open.
- Playgrounds/amenities: Playgrounds remain closed at City facilities.
- Pools: Lap swimming is available by appointment at H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) and Dwight H. Hunter (Northeast) pools. Diving boards and slides remain closed.
- Tennis: Tennis courts are open for regular play. Tennis camps will be run on a limited basis.
