Alachua County is accepting applications for fiscal year 2027 art grants, offering funding opportunities for local artists, artist collaborators, nonprofit organizations and municipalities to support arts and cultural projects throughout the county.
The grant program provides awards of up to $3,000 for individual artists, artist collaborators and nonprofit organizations. Incorporated municipalities — including Alachua, Archer, Hawthorne, High Springs, LaCrosse, Micanopy, Newberry and Waldo — may apply for grants of up to $5,000.
Grant funds may be used for a variety of project-related expenses, including visual arts and music supplies, advertising, studio time, printing, equipment and other eligible costs. Applications may be submitted online. Applications are due by midnight on July 31.
The Arts Council of Alachua County will review applications during its September meeting and make funding recommendations to the Alachua County Commission. Funding will be available from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027. All required reports and reimbursement requests must be submitted by Sept. 30, 2027.
“Thanks to support from Visit Gainesville, Alachua County, and State of the Arts license plate sales, our art grant can now award up to $14,000 this cycle,” said Arts Council Chair David Ruiz in a press release. “These grants showcase how Alachua County uses the arts to tell its story, strengthen community connections and address local challenges — demonstrating the profound impact of art and design on cultural vitality, wellbeing and economic growth.”
The grant program stems from the Alachua County Public Arts Ordinance, adopted by the Alachua County Commission in May 2020. The ordinance states that art should be an integral part of Alachua County and establishes a mission of enhancing the visual environment, quality of life and public appreciation for the arts throughout the community.
County officials encourage eligible artists, organizations and municipalities to apply and help advance creative projects that enrich the cultural landscape of Alachua County.
