Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS) will host a job fair for prospective students on Saturday, April 13, at Gainesville High School.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at 1900 NW 13th St.
ACPS is recruiting teachers for every grade level and subject and career changers are welcome. Walkups will be welcome, but candidates are encouraged to register for the job fair by clicking here and are encouraged to upload their resumes or bring them to the event.
“This job fair is to hire for the next school year, which starts in mid April,” said ACPS spokesperson Jackie Johnson in an email. “The district typically hires about 300 teachers, starting in April for the following school year.”
The district currently has 36 classroom teacher vacancies, Johnson said, and the greatest need are for elementary, ESE teachers, middle and high school language arts, math and science teachers and school counselors.
ACPS principals and district administrators will be available to interview teacher candidates and provide help with applications and certification.
Information regarding benefits will be provided at the job fair. The benefits include free health insurance for most employees, extra pay for additional duties, higher pay for previous teaching experience and advanced degrees, mentoring for new teachers and other incentives and support.
