GothamChess to speak, play at UF

International Master Levy Rozman, the “internet’s chess teacher,” will visit Gainesville on Saturday for a lecture, Q&A session and some blitz challenges with the Gator Chess Club starting at 10 a.m. 

Space is limited, and you can register online to attend. To play in the blitz portion, a separate registration is needed. The event will happen at Rion Ballroom.

Rozman, known as GothamChess, is one of the world’s most recognized chess players and teachers. He’s amassed more than 4.3 million subscribers on YouTube with a total of 1.8 billion views. This year, he published the best seller “How to Win at Chess.”

GothamChess rose to prominence as chess surged in popularity during and since the COVID-19 pandemic. He became one of the most watched chess streamers on Twitch as followers all over the world watch him play.  

As a chess instructor, Rozman bridges the knowledge gap between the top grandmasters and everyone else, breaking down tournament games move by move and explaining why players do what they do.  

He’ll continue his tour in Clifton, New Jersey before heading to London and then Toronto.
