O-Town Compost will be at the Alachua County Rural Collection Centers on Saturday, Feb. 21, to give away free Kitchen Caddies to county residents.
The distribution will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as the initiative aims to encourage Alachua County residents to divert organic waste and food scraps from the landfill and assist in composting efforts while supplies last.
Residents who participate in the composting program will receive a 2.5-gallon Kitchen Caddy, along with compostable bags to collect food scraps at home.

When the Kitchen Caddy is full, residents can transport their organic materials to designated bins that will be made available at the Rural Collection Centers for proper disposal and composting.

This composting program is available exclusively to Alachua County residents and is made possible through a Circular Economy Grant from the county.
