Families are invited to celebrate the start of “Summer at the Library: Reader Palooza,” a community-wide event scheduled for Saturday at the Tower Road Branch Library.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3020 SW 75th St. in Gainesville.
Hosted by the library and its community partners, Reader Palooza will launch the annual Summer at the Library program with a day of reading, activities, entertainment, and family-friendly fun.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for the library’s summer reading program through Beanstack, where participants can track their reading minutes and complete “Rawrrr Into Reading” activities throughout the summer. Patrons can track their reading minutes from June 6 to Aug. 8 and earn digital badges for completing reading challenges. Each badge is a chance to win weekly prizes from one of our Summer Sponsors or one of three grand prize tablets provided by Sushi Sake restaurant.
The event will also feature information from local community organizations about their summer programs and opportunities for children and families.
Visitors can participate in games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, interactive activities, and other hands-on experiences designed to encourage reading and lifelong learning.
Reader Palooza activities will take place throughout the Tower Road Branch Library, including the Children’s Space, Teen Space, Meeting Room, Lobby, Outdoor Program Area and study rooms.
Library officials encourage families to attend, learn about summer resources and begin their summer reading journey together.
