The City of Gainesville’s Wild Spaces & Public Places program and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department are holding a ribbon cutting to celebrate the reopening of Albert “Ray” Massey playground on Friday.

The ribbon cutting will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. at Albert “Ray” Massey playground (1001 NW 34th St.).

The playground reopened on March 31 after being closed for three years. The space-inspired playground is based on 8th Avenue’s spacewalk. The playground features lively and bright colors as well as new play experiences for children that promote physical, social, and sensory skills. Additionally, there is an updated restroom and lighting.
