Ribbon cutting to celebrate new playground  

The City of Gainesville’s Wild Spaces & Public Places program and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department are holding a ribbon cutting to celebrate the reopening of Albert “Ray” Massey playground on Friday.  

The ribbon cutting will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. at Albert “Ray” Massey playground (1001 NW 34th St.).  

The playground reopened on March 31 after being closed for three years. The space-inspired playground is based on 8^th Avenue’s spacewalk. The playground features lively and bright colors as well as new play experiences for children that promote physical, social, and sensory skills. Additionally, there is an updated restroom and lighting.
