The second “No Kings” rally of 2025 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Cora Roberson Park in Gainesville to protest President Donald Trump.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at 600 SW 6th St.

Speakers and bands will be on hand as protesters gather in opposition to Trump and his actions since taking office in January. The event organizers claim that Trump has used Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to “terrorize families,” sent the military to American cities claiming “non-existent emergencies,” allegedly prosecuting his political enemies and threatening to withhold back pay from federal workers.

Mainstreet does not have a paywall, but pavement-pounding journalism is not free. Join your neighbors who make this vital work possible.

Dozens of tables will be available where people can get involved and learn about specific issues and there will be a place to give and receive mutual aid to clothe local children. People are encouraged to bring new socks, shoes, underwear, jackets and feminine hygiene products for kids and teens and to take what they need for needy kids in their lives. The remaining contributions will go to clothing closets and local schools.

North Central Florida Indivisible is hosting this event, with co-hosts Gainesville Women for Democracy, Badass Feminists, Democratic Women’s Club of Alachua County, Alachua County Labor Coalition, and many others.

The first “No Kings” event was held on June 14. Gainesville residents held a similar, smaller rally in February at the corner of Main Street and University Avenue. A “Tesla Takedown” rally followed in March, along with others in April and May, including the “International Workers’ Day” rally. In July, a group gathered on West Newberry Road in front of Oaks Mall.

Organizers are asking that people attending adhere to a nonviolent protest and community safety.
