A spring break food distribution event will take place at Irby Elementary School in Alachua on Saturday, March 14.
The event, open to families in Alachua County, will start at 9 a.m. at 13505 NW 140th St. in Alachua and will remain open until all the food is gone.
“God placed it on our hearts to provide snacks, healthy snacks & food to area families whose children will be out on spring break after next week,” stated Deeper Purpose Community Church in the release. “We know that many students and families depend on the food that’s provided while children are at school & we want to get needed food to families that could use it during this time.
To help ensure that the food is going to families with children in the household that live in Alachua County, an adult present will be required to:
- Have a photo ID showing an Alachua County address.
- Also, have a child or children present with you, or any type of proof that you have a child(ren) in the home.
This will be a park and walk-up event, but there will be volunteers for those who need help getting back to their car. There will also be a check-in table to assist in getting everyone in and out quickly.
There will be fresh fruit, bread, heat-and-eat meals, easy-open meals for kids, snacks, healthy snacks, drinks, breakfast items, lunch items and dinner items.
All items are and will be in different quantities, so it is not guaranteed that every family will get the exact same items, but all families will get the same amount of items.
Deeper Purpose Community Church would like to thank Feeding Northeast Florida and Bread of the Mighty Food Bank for their support and for helping assemble bags, along with the High Springs Winn Dixie, Newberry Publix, Publix at 53rd and 43rd in Gainesville, Walmart and those who support Deeper Purpose Ministries. A special thanks goes to Irby Elementary Principal, Holly Burton, who approved the use of the outside of the school to meet this need.
