Virtual Friends of the Library book sale coming Thursday

Gainesville, Fla. – The Friends of the Library’s second Bag of Books sale launches Thursday, Jan. 14 with bags of books, DVDs, vinyl records, and puzzles available for $5 or $10 online.

Affectionately nicknamed “BOB,” the sale goes live online here. Buyers can order items online and collect purchases at the Bookhouse at 430-B N. Main St. in Gainesville on four successive Saturdays: Jan. 23, Jan. 30, Feb. 6, and Feb. 13. FOL volunteers will assign shoppers pickup times between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Runners will bring purchases out to vehicles. Organizers ask that buyers wear masks when picking up items.

Shoppers can select bags of books in categories including cooking, hardback, romance, paperback fiction, science fiction, young adult, children, and mystery. Shoppers can use credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay to complete their online purchases. Orders will close on Feb. 10.

FOL is a volunteer-run nonprofit that supports the Library District and community literary efforts. FOL funding helps the Library District purchase materials, bring in special performers and guests, and market library services.

FOL is not accepting donations due to limited space in the organization’s bookhouse. For additional sale information, please call the FOL Bookhouse at 352-375-1676.
