A neighborhood workshop to discuss future improvements at Boulware Springs Nature Park is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The event, hosted by the city of Gainesville’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and the Wild Spaces & Public Places Department, will run from 6 to 7 p.m. at 3300 SE 15th St. under the pavilion next to the trailhead. The meeting will be outdoors, so dress accordingly.
The proposed upgrades include the addition of a restroom building at the trailhead, a connected drive from the trailhead to the water works building, additional parking, renovation of the historic water works building, landscaping and stormwater treatment.
The improvements would help integrate the park’s entry and also address erosion and stormwater issues. The renovated building would be used as a rental venue for special events and meetings along with serving as a nature education facility.
Construction on the park is expected to start in spring 2025 and last one year. The trailhead will still be open during construction.
