The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) announced the passing of one its deputies on Wednesday.

In an ACSO social media release posted Thursday afternoon, the agency reported that ASCO deputy Nickolas Tilliman unexpectedly passed away while off duty.

“We will work with the medical examiner to determine the cause of death,” said ACSO spokesperson Art Forgey in an email reply.

The ASCO social media release stated, “During this solemn time, we would ask that you embrace your community’s Law Enforcement Officers as they try to pick up the pieces and continue in their service to you.

“Deputy Tilliman, ID #1883, you may be gone from this earth, but you will never be gone from our hearts. We have the watch brother.”

Memorial arrangements for Tilliman will be announced later.
