Bicyclist hit on US 441 in High Springs

A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle when he rode into oncoming traffic along US 441 in High Springs on Wednesday morning.

According to High Springs spokesperson Kevin Mangan, a vehicle driving southbound on US 441 hit the bicyclist when the rider rode into oncoming traffic. The male bicycle rider was transported to UF Health Shands as a trauma alert.

The incident occurred around 8:40 a.m. and the High Springs Fire Department (HSFD) and police were on scene, according to an HSFD social media release. Traffic was diverted onto NW 207th Terrace but the roadway was cleared by 9:10 a.m.
