The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will tackle an agenda that includes an art installation selection, COVID-19 update, East Side urgent care plans and the future county administration building.
The regular meeting is slated for 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Alachua County Administration Building (12 SE 1st St.) with an evening meeting that begins at 5 p.m.
The BOCC will take public comment in person or by calling 1-800-741-8011. Masks are required while attending the meeting regardless of vaccination status. The public may view the meeting on Cox Channel 12 and the County’s Video on Demand website.
Daytime items of interest include several proclamations, a COVID-19 discussion, selection of an artist for the Fire Station 33 stained glass art installation.
There is a Request For Proposal to address a budgeted $34.5 million upgrade or building of a new county administration building.
Funding from the County’s share of the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Area (GCRA) has been identified as the best source of funds for the East Side Urgent Care program. The County expects to recapture approximately $400,000 per year from these funds until the $2.25 million is recovered.
The board will consider approval of additional Wild Spaces Public Places for Cuscowilla Nature and Retreat Center improvements and will adopt a Transportation Priorities List and direct staff to transmit the list to the Florida Department of Transportation and authorize the chair’s signature on any applications necessary to fund the projects on the Priorities List.
A public hearing will be held to consider adopting an ordinance that will add Recreation Land Use Policies to the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use element.
The meeting agenda and backup documents can be accessed on the county website.
