A Thursday morning fire destroyed two businesses and damaged two others on Dock Street in Cedar Key.
The blaze reportedly started in the early morning hours at the Rusty Hook Bait Shop and spread to Duncan’s on the Gulf restaurant. The Island Trading Post and Steamers restaurant, both neighboring businesses, were damaged by smoke and water.
“Units arrived on scene and reported heavy fire,” said a Facebook post by Chiefland Fire Rescue, which responded to assist Cedar Key Fire Rescue. Levy County Department of Public Safety, Fanning Springs Fire Rescue, Bronson Fire, Williston Fire and Citrus County Fire all responded to the blaze.
“Units in Cedar Key spent almost 12 hours battling the blaze before getting the fire under control,” Chiefland Fire Rescue reported.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries sustained at the scene. He was treated and released.
“A huge thank you to all of our first responders who fearlessly battled a fully involved 2-story blazing fire on Dock Street,” the city of Cedar Key said in a Facebook post.
The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Oh no! This is beyond sad.
Cedar keys cannot get a break.
Was watching WXChasing’s “Hurricane Helene – Cedar Key storm surge aftermath -Drone” and following along on Google Streetview. Just devastating. I thought the storm may have taken these buildings, but now see a fire got them just weeks earlier.
