A 50-year-old Chiefland man was killed early Wednesday morning when his pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve transitioning from NW 110 Avenue to NW 129th Place in Chiefland and crashed into a sign and a tree.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was traveling north on NW 110th Avenue at 12:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate the curve towards the left that transitions onto NW 129th Place.

The pickup continued straight off the road and struck a yellow warning sign before hitting a tree.
