Chiefland motorcyclist seriously injured in crash

A Chiefland man was seriously injured when he sideswiped a vehicle on NE 264th Avenue and fell from his motorcycle on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 51-year-old Chiefland man attempted to pass several cars while on a curve on NE 264th Avenue at 3:30 p.m. He entered the shoulder of the road, crossed a dirt driveway and, while attempting to re-enter the road, sideswiped an SUV being driven by a 32-year-old Old Town woman.

The motorcycle then rotated clockwise and overturned multiple times as the driver fell off during the crash.

Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to UF Shands with serious injuries.
