Alachua County Commissioner Ken Cornell was recently selected to serve on the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Finance and Audit Committee.
According to an Alachua County release, Cornell was appointed on June 28 by the FAC board, chaired by Commissioner and FAC President-Elect Terry Burroughs.
“Being appointed to the Finance and Audit Committee by the board is truly an honor,” said Cornell in the release. “The Florida Association of Counties has been instrumental in my growth as a leader, and I am grateful for the opportunity to give back through my service on this committee.”
The Finance and Audit Committee meets four times yearly and reviews the FAC’s financial situation.
“Commissioner Cornell’s dedication to the mission of FAC has shown through his service on policy committees and his voluntary pursuit of county government education,” said Burroughs in the release. “He was an obvious choice to appoint to this committee, as I know he will act with the association’s best interest at heart.”
While a member of the Finance and Audit Committee, Cornell will work with the FAC board to make decisions and help evaluate the FAC’s financial standing, such as budgets, allocations, and audits.
Not a plus. Cornell has had some radical misplaced ideas about finance in the past. He needs to be watched carefully.
