Fort White teen dies in collision

A 16-year-old Fort White girl died when she pulled out in front of a van on State Road 47 on Friday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 29-year-old Lake City man was driving a passenger van carrying 15 passengers southbound on SR 47 at 7 a.m. when he approached the intersection of County Road 238 (SW Elim Church Road). The Fort White teen was driving a sedan eastbound on CR 238 and failed to yield at the intersection, resulting in the crash.

Emergency responders pronounced the Fort White girl dead on scene.

The 16 people in the van were not injured in the collision.
