Gainesville Police Department arrested Trevis Avante Strawder, 27, on Tuesday with numerous charges following a chase by car and on foot.
At 10:07 a.m., GPD received a call reporting an armed disturbance at Woodland Park Apartments (1900 SE 4th Street). The caller said that a black male had driven away in a silver Toyota Camry.
After locating the vehicle, officers tried to stop the Camry. Strawder fled on foot with a black backpack on his chest. GPD and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies created a perimeter and eventually caught Strawder.
Inside his backpack, Strawder carried two loaded semi-auto handguns and 10 different types of controlled substances.
Law enforcement realized that the ACSO already issued several active felony warrants for Strawder.
The Alachua County Department of the Jail currently holds Strawder on a $1,632,500 bond. He’s been charged with burglary of occupied dwelling, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting without violence, false name to law enforcement and several narcotics charges.
He’s also charged with two counts of attempted robbery for a Monday incident at the Wyndham Garden Hotel.
