GPD arrests man carrying firearms following chase

Gainesville Police Department arrested Trevis Avante Strawder, 27, on Tuesday with numerous charges following a chase by car and on foot.

At 10:07 a.m., GPD received a call reporting an armed disturbance at Woodland Park Apartments (1900 SE 4th Street). The caller said that a black male had driven away in a silver Toyota Camry.

After locating the vehicle, officers tried to stop the Camry. Strawder fled on foot with a black backpack on his chest. GPD and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies created a perimeter and eventually caught Strawder.
