Hawthorne man dies in 3-vehicle collision in Lochloosa

A 62-year-old Hawthorne man died Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash on US 301 in Lochloosa.

A 62-year-old Hawthorne man died in a three-vehicle collision on US 301 in Lochloosa in south Alachua County on Friday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the crash happened just before 6 a.m. on US 301 and SE 165th Avenue.

No details were given on how the occurred, but it the Hawthorne man was driving a pickup, a 26-year-old Melrose man was driving a pickup and sustained minor injuries and an SUV was being driven by a 38-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina man who had a 74-year-old Charlotte man as a passenger. Neither of the Charlotte men were injured.
