Human remains discovered in Gilchrist County

The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) confirmed the discovery of human remains found on a property on Saturday in the northeast section of Gilchrist County.

According to reports, the identification and cause of death are still under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and GCSO, in conjunction with the Florida Wildlife Commission and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

There is no known danger to anyone in the surrounding area or abroad, the GCSO report states. Further details will be released as they become available and are appropriate.
