I-10 van rollover kills 2, injures 5

Two people died and five were injured when a van veered off Interstate 10 and rolled over in Suwannee County on Tuesday night.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 26-year-old Houston, Texas, man was driving west on I-10 near mile marker 285 at 9:40 p.m. when he veered left, entered the median and the vehicle began to roll over.

The van came to a rest on its tires and partially blocked the eastbound inside travel lane.

Emergency responders pronounced a 27-year-old Houston, Texas, woman dead on scene.

Other passengers were transported to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville, the Lake City Medical Center and to HCA Florida Suwannee Emergency in Live Oak. A 3-year-old female passenger from Vancouver, Washington, was pronounced dead at HCA Florida Suwannee Emergency.

The driver, a 12-year-old female passenger from Houston, Texas, and a male passenger (unknown age or city) were all listed in serious condition. A 23-year-old female passenger from Vancouver, Washington, and a 2-year-old female passenger (unknown city) sustained minor injuries.

It was not known if any of the van’s occupants were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.
