Lake City man dies when vehicle loses traction, overturns off I-10

A 20-year-old Lake City man died Wednesday when his vehicle lost traction on Interstate 10 in wet and rainy conditions, traveled off the roadway and overturned.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving a Ford Mustang eastbound on I-10 near mile marker 297 just past the I-75 interchange in Columbia County at 5:50 p.m. when his vehicle traveled right onto the south grassy shoulder, onto a culvert and overturned. FHP reported the tires had low tread.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

He is a young man, from lake city. Hunter Ban was his name.
