Local governments to close for holidays, trash collection delayed

Key Points

Administrative offices for Alachua County along with all cities in the county will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Day. 

The holiday schedules will push back trash schedules this week and next from Wednesday onward. Wednesday collections will happen on Thursday, Thursday collections on Friday and Friday collections on Saturday. 

Gainesville’s RTS routes will also be impacted. RTS will not run on Christmas Eve, Christmas or New Year’s Day, and it will have a reduced schedule on Dec. 26-31. The reduced schedule is indicated on-time schedules with an “R.”
