Crash kills woman near High Springs

An Old Town woman died in a single-vehicle crash near High Springs Saturday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

FHP reported that the accident occurred at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 441 and NW 194th Street, which is southeast of High Springs.

The 46-year-old woman was driving north, toward High Springs, when her SUV left the roadway and onto the grass on the right shoulder. The vehicle traveled through a ditch, struck a culvert and flipped over, coming to a rest on its roof.

First responders pronounced the woman dead on the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP, which is still investigating what caused the accident.
