The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run incident last night at approximately 7:35 pm in Suwannee County.
According to the report, a minivan was traveling northbound on US-27 south of Branford when it struck a male pedestrian, a 32-year-old man from Carlsbad, CA, who was walking along the northbound paved shoulder. The driver of the minivan failed to stop on the scene, and the minivan was discovered abandoned a few miles from the scene.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene by Suwannee County Fire Rescue. FHP is actively investigating a person of interest in this case.
The FHP did not release the name of the deceased pedestrian.
