A 23-year-old Newberry man died Tuesday evening when his pickup truck veered off West Newberry Road (State Road 26), collided with a wood fence, overturned and ejected him.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving a 2013 Ford F150 westbound on West Newberry Road near NW 170th Street at 7:22 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he veered right and crossed onto the north shoulder on the roadway. The pickup hit a curb and power pole guide wire and continued in a northwesterly direction, rotated clockwise and collided with a wood fence, overturned and ejected the driver.

Emergency responders transported the man to UF Health Shands Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
