A Newberry teenager died Sunday when a firearm was accidentally discharged while hunting.

The preliminary information gathered by the FWC officers indicated that a firearm was accidentally discharged.
Emergency responders transported the victim to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville where he later died from the injury.
In a WCJB article, the victim was identified as 18-year-old Malachi Lancaster, a senior at Newberry High School, and the incident took place off Williston Road south of Gainesville.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of this young man who is gone way too soon.
So sad. Sending prayers for the family. An Angel taken away too soon.
