Old Town man, 74, dies when SUV collides with tree

A 74-year-old Old Town man died Wednesday when his SUV left County Road 345 west of Chiefland, overturned and collided with a tree.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving westbound on CR 345 and was approaching the intersection of NW 100th St. at 12:50 p.m. when his SUV ran off the road and entered the grass shoulder. The vehicle overturned before colliding with a tree.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.
