Paynes Prairie wreck critically injures Micanopy man

A 61-year-old Micanopy man is in critical condition after his SUV overturned multiple times on US Highway 441 in Paynes Prairie on Saturday evening.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving an SUV south on US 441 at 8:30 p.m. when he left his lane, crossing onto the roadway’s left shoulder and into the median. After his vehicle crossed the median and entered the northbound lanes, the SUV overturned multiple times, crossed through the median, and stopped in the southbound lanes facing north.

Emergency responders transported the man to UF Health Shands Hospital.
